  • In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (2008), 21% of the University’s research was rated as being either internationally excellent or world leading.
  • Six units in particular stood out and recorded ‘world-leading outputs’. They are: Nursing, Allied Health, Civil Engineering, Architecture & Built Environment, Library & Information Management, and English
  • In 2009, the Univeristy was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in recognition of its work.
  • The award was made for ‘Innovative housing construction for environmental benefit and quality of life’. It recognised the outstanding contribution knowledge exchange made by the Building Performance Centre and the development of Robust Details for use in the Building Standard Regulations.

Edinburgh Napiers innovative approach to studying means that students have access to the latest technology on-site and are able to draw on numerous resources throughout their time at the University.

  • The University is home to Edinburgh’s first dedicated video games lab which features 24 networked Xbox 360s and PCs, a 50-inch plasma screen and large projected screen, as well as robotics development capabilities.
  • A 500-seat Computing centre is open 24/7 and students can access wifi on all campuses.
  • The Sighthill campus includes a five-storey learning resource centre and 25 specialised teaching rooms. These include clinical skills laboratories, an environmental chamber and biomechanics laboratory, a high-tech crime-scene scenario room and integrated sports facilities. A state-of-the-art clinical skills suite is equipped with advanced technology.
  • The Craiglockhart campus offers advance language labs which are available for students to make use of. This campus also functions as a conference centre and houses an exhibition of photography, writing, film and memorabilia to provide a glimpse into the minds of the poets, patients and medical staff work worked at the campus when it was the site of the ‘Craiglockhart War Hospital.’
