Keele University is a world-class campus university founded more than 60 years ago to meet the demands of a new kind of society, economy and world; this innovative approach still resonates today.
Keele is committed to being a ‘research-led and student-focused’ University. We value the quality of our teaching as highly as our research. Students come to Keele because of this academic reputation; the courses which are relevant to careers; and the beautiful and spacious campus. Although set in over 600 acres of landscaped parkland, fields, woodlands and lakes, the campus has a small and cosmopolitan community of student and staff, many of whom live on campus.
The campus is self-contained with student residences, teaching buildings, library, mosque, restaurants and cafes, Students’ Union, shops, a bank, sports centre and medical centre. There are great indoor and outdoor sporting and leisure facilities, with 100 sports clubs and societies to choose from; our Student Union was voted 4th best in the UK for nightlife by Which?.
Keele claims to have re-invented the dual honours degree in its modern form. When the university was founded there was a deliberate aim to break away from the pattern of specialised honours degrees. Consequently, most students studied a range of modules across the different faculties. Keele still upholds the principles of flexible interdisciplinary study—nearly 90% of undergraduate students still pursue a dual-honours degree course (one of the highest in the UK).
We offer foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across three faculties: Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. At undergraduate level, through the dual honours system, students can choose from over 500 different subject combinations enabling them to study two subjects to degree level. Popular combinations include Chemistry and Forensic Science; Marketing and Media; and Human Geography and Politics. Single honours courses in professional subjects including Biomedical Science, Law, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy are also available. Master’s degree courses are offered in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Finance, Human Resource Management, Computer Science, International Relations, Law, Management, Media, Physiotherapy and Psychology.
Keele graduates are confident and well educated with a broad experience that makes them highly employable; it’s little wonder that Keele was voted No. 1 in the UK for Graduate Employment in 2016 (HESA -Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education 2016).
It’s the Keele difference.
