STUDENT LIFE

At Essex, you’re not just a student, but a member of a global community. We’ll help you grow, and give you the confidence and skills to challenge convention and shape what goes on around you. Your time at Essex will be full of opportunities to meet new people, try new things and develop new skills.

Set in 200 acres of beautiful parkland on the outskirts of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, Colchester Campus is built around five compact and bustling squares, which encourages our academics and students from different departments to work together, nurturing the interdisciplinary nature of our teaching and research.

Our Southend Campus is based in the heart of this vibrant and modern seaside town. Southend is affectionately known as ‘London’s playground’, where you can sail, kitesurf or cycle along the coast. If you’re a thrill-seeker, take a ride on the rollercoasters at Adventure Island and then stop off for some fish and chips on the beach. With award-winning nightlife, comedy shows and theatre, a night out in Southend-on-Sea is hard to beat.
